Shae in San diego.

Dear blog,

Here we go again, we decided to use our blog more often. Unfortunately we are not sharing this story together. Since I (Shae) moved to San Diego for a year, we don't meet up often. From now one you'll be able to read our stories while we're traveling around the world. We both use this blog to share our stories and to share the pictures we have taken during our trips. Let's continue with my story. Since September I'm living in a flat in San Diego.
I work in a hotel as assistant. I'm addicted to Starbucks, snapchat and I'm starting to feel more American every day. Here are some of the pictures from my first months.

How awesome is this view?
During my second month in the states one of my friends passed away after fighting against cancer for a couple of years. I'm still sad about him passing away.

Two of my friends came over. They recently moved to Texas, so we don't meet much. While reading this i just wonder myself how i got so many American friends. I guess the answer is easy. My best friend is half American and she is in love with traveling. Just like me.

I also have this video of me and a friend biking, We had so much fun during this little trip.
I can't believe time is passing by so fast. It feels like i just arrived here.

Christmas with my pup.
New Years Eve with the best friend.

Hope you had a good start of the new year yourself. Love to hear from you all.

Playing catch up.

Here is quick recap of the past few weeks because it's 3am and I'm not in bed….

We had to work on the fourth of July so we had a pretty low key day and just had a BBQ and enjoyed some sparklers with some friends after work. Some of you might be wondering why we celebrated the fourth of July. Here are some reason why we did it.

+ Katelynn's mom is an American woman.
+ Jenna's birthday is the fourth of July.
+ We're living in Hawaii, one of the states of the united states.

So we tried to celebrate it anyway..

At the beginning of this week we made a goal to visit a new beach we haven’t been to yet each day. But before we get into sharing those with you, we should probably spill the news we were just given yesterday. Due to the economic situation the store is in our internship is being cut a little short and we will be returning home a few weeks sooner than planned. Receiving this information came as quite a shock and is bittersweet, but we are excited to continue making the most of our time left in paradise before returning home to our families and friends!  Our last day working at Hawaii will now be August 31th rather then September 17th. We are going to stay a couple extra days on the Big Island and then fly to Oahu to spend a week with Katelynn's uncle before bringing this unforgettable journey to an end on September 10th.

Now back to the fun stuff :)

For our first beach of the week we chose Mauna Kea. It is a beautiful Hawaiian white sand beach with swimming-pool clear water. Before even getting in the ocean we decided we had found our new favorite spot. The high light of the day aside from having beach chairs right up to the shore was swimming with a turtle while snorkeling.

Wednesday instead of going to the traditional swimming beach we decided to be a little bit more adventurous and I (Shae) took Katelynn down to the end of the road to experience the amazing hike down to the black sand beach. Along the way we pulled off on a few shoreline access roads to see where they lead and we discovered an old railroad depot from 1930. This definitely a local hot spot because many people swimming and fishing from the cement platform. And I can understand why because the water was crystal clear and we could see many tropical fish swimming around.

My family came to visit us on the Island. I was so excited to see them back and to spend time with those amazing people. We picked them up at the airport. Unfortunately we couldn't take both free time so Katelynn had to go to work. We had so much fun exploring and i loved the feeling to show my family how i live, how i work and what we did here..
The Island felt like a home for me. How will i be able to leave this place again.

Hope to see you guys soon for another update,

Much love,
Shae & Katelynn

Zip line

Hi there

Another update from the great Hawaii.

we scored an amazing zip lining tour for only 25 dollars in Hilo :)
Let me tell you about Hilo.It is very tropical and actually rains 99% of the time. We met in downtown Hilo at the Kapohokine Adventure store and took a 30 minute drive to the first platform where the adventure began. The course consisted of 8 platforms totaling about a mile and half of airtime altogether. The lines were side by side so we got to fly over trees, waterfalls, and canyons together. We didn’t think we would be nervous until we started walking up to the first platform, the initial jump was a bit nerve wrecking but by the second platform we were doing it like pros. About half way through we got to take a break and touch ground. They had snacks and drinks waiting for us in a beautiful covered spot over looking the first waterfall. Everyone enjoyed a good laugh when Katelynn unknowingly attempted to swallow a bee that had landed in her juice!
Our favorite line zip was the last one that was not only the longest but definitely featured the best view of the canyon and the stream that flows through it.

We loved this so much! Hope to hear from you guys soon!

Turtle's..

As if swimming with the turtles all morning wasn’t enough.. I got to watch the sunset with some too! I was all settled in on a beach chair patiently waiting for the sun to set when I heard someone on the beach mention they saw a turtle; I had to investigate.

There is this little rock wall that goes out about 50 feet or so into the water from the shore and the rumored turtle spotting was at the end of it. So I curiously walked out along the wall and sure enough there was a great big turtle just hanging out! I quickly realized I had set up camp for my sunset view in the wrong place and ended up staying there on the edge of the wall for a good hour. All the while there were turtles just swimming around at my feet. A few came and went and at one point there were 5 of them! It really was such a neat experience to be up close and personal with the friendly creatures. I couldn’t help but feeling like one of them had to be Crush from Finding Nemo :)

I found my friend.. named him Mika (only one person will understand)

Today we are gonna zip line, So excited.. I'm so ready to do that. Oh and a bit of a detail. getting my results when i wake up... :/
